The NRL turned 100 a couple of weeks ago!!
Rugby league came to Australia a century ago – on the 8th August 1907. In a smoke-filled saloon at Bateman’s Crystal Hotel in downtown Sydney, the NSWRL was formed, and with it, the birth of rugby league – Australia’s first professional football code.
Why didn’t anyone tell me??
So, if the NSWRL was formed in 1907, and the Broncos won in 2006, does that mean we won the 100th season of the NRL? Yeah, I think it does.
Unfortunately we won’t be winning THIS year, unless there is some kind of miracle.
Oh, and I found the film clip for “Lights” (last level of Lumines).
This video is a bit of a who’s who of the webcomics industry. Tycho for PM!
I’d so love to go to that. I really need portable human transporter device that isn’t a very expensive plane.
p.s. Sign this.
Recently I accidentally got re-addicted to Lumines. This caused me to discover the sequel, Lumines 2. I’ve been hitting it pretty hard the last few weeks and I’m now at the point where on “Endurance” mode (the hardest) I’m hitting over a million.
Of course, it takes over 2 and a half hours…
Anyone who knows me well know how much I despise banks. This is why:
Yesterday, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia announced record profits, 4.6 BILLION dollars of it, up 18% from last year.
Then, just ONE DAY later they announce (hat in hand), that interest rates have to go up so they can stay competitive.
I’ve been watching horror films with Melissa lately. We’ve watched “28 Days Later” and last night “Blair Witch” which still scared the living crap out of me, and I’ve seen it before.
As a kid I watched all the “Nightmare on Elm Street”s and “Friday the 13th”s so I’m kind of immune to “scary guy in a costume/mask chasing around screaming teens”, but there’s something about rage-infected humans or people running around like nutters in the dark forest that gets to me.
I also watched “28 Weeks Later” recently and while I’m glad they made a sequel to one of my favourite films, the direction was so different I ended up being disappointed. Also the “Dad” character annoyed me once he got infected. Anyone else who gets infected usually runs off and starts trying to maim random “non-infected” people, but he just kept popping in to scare his kids and that might have been nice for the story but it didn’t make sense. Watching jet fighters zoom into London and napalm Canary Wharf was kinda cool though.
If they do make “28 Months Later” I hope Danny Boyle comes back to direct it.
So what other scary movies should I watch??
